Mastery

Mastery implies that something has been learned and relearning or reviewing is not necessary. Too often, mastery has been tied to percent correct e.g. 90% - 100% means mastery. While being 90% - 100% correct might define a level of accuracy it does not assure mastery.

Adding speed to accuracy results in fluency.  A fluent student is proficient.  We individually determine each student’s mastery level based upon fluency. My Learning Partners has very clear rules we use to determine mastery of learning.  Students  master a skill level when the following conditions are met: Their one minute test score of correct answers must be above their mastery level for two out of three consecutive days AND they cannot make more than two errors on those minute tests.

Daily Monitoring

My Learning Partners monitors each student's progress in reading, written language and math DAILY. This is accomplished through the internet with your E-mail. Each day students take one minute learning samples in their skill areas. These results are sent over the internet to My Learning Partners.

We analyze the student’s results, plotting growth rates and making recommendations when those rates appear too steep or too flat. We want students to maintain interest in their lessons. We know that when learning is at a particular rate they will not become bored with easy lessons or confused with lessons that are too difficult.

By monitoring progress daily, timely adjustments can be made to a student’s learning and the effectiveness of those adjustments can be seen within days. Utilizing daily monitoring assures that students are learning at their most efficient and enjoyable level.
