
Acquisition and Rate Building
There are two phases in learning:
Acquisition - When a student is beginning unfamiliar material
Rate Building - When the student has acquired a basic understanding of the material then the focus is on rate building which leads to fluency and mastery
My Learning Partners uses clearly defined criteria that guide the focus of instruction toward acquisition or rate building activities. These criteria for Reading, Written Language and Math are shown below:
